Before and After: Navy Floral Shift Dress

This transformation was a lot of fun.  This dress had amazing potential.  I immediately loved the navy fabric with gray floral print. Shortening the sleeves and hemming the bottom really took a lot of weight out of the original dress and gave it a much more flattering fit. I love the result!

  1. I like the re-do for a younger person - not so sure it could fit a 50 plus person or someone who is a bit larger than your model (haha)... But I would most certainly design this dress in something less extreme, but appropriate - shortening the dress just to the knee would help a lot for updating it. And perhaps adding a wider belt? I have a dress exactly like this from my mom's wardrobe...

  2. Thanks for posting. I have an two piece gold and blue dress with similar sleeves and pleated skirt. I hope to alter it but probably will hem at the top of skirt because pleats are difficult to hem.
